Anett Schutting

Tennis coach and mentor

Background

My tennis career started at the age of 7 on the Kalev tennis courts in Tallinn. Since then, tennis has been a great source of joy in my life and a catalyst for personal development. The constant challenge to improve and overcome difficulties has kept me hooked to the game. In addition to competing, tennis has taught me resilience, patience, discipline and the value of both individual effort and teamwork.

Results

I represented Estonia at the Fed Cup from 2007 to 2010, reaching my highest WTA ranking of No. 679 in 2010. In 2011 I headed to sunny California to study and play for the University of California, Berkeley's first division women's tennis team. As the team's number one ranked player in both singles and doubles, I finished in the top five nationally in singles and top four in doubles in America.

Coaching experience

After the end of my eligibility after the 2014 season, I continued to work with the team as a volunteer assistant coach from 2014 to 2015, helping with training, travel plans and individual development. In addition, I shared my passion by giving tennis lessons to kids and teens in the Bay Area. From there, I moved on to Orinda Country Club in 2015, where I continued to coach tennis, giving lessons to all different levels (kids and adults), as well as working on training schedules and helping with the operations and maintenance of the tennis club there until 2016, when I returned home to Estonia. Back at home, life took me to the UX and product design path, where I found a new outlet to express myself. Lately, I have rediscovered my passion for tennis, which had been put to rest for a while, and it gives me great pleasure to share my knowledge and experience with you.
